Spiritan Rule of Life 2022
Dear Confreres,
The first edition (1987) of our Rule of Life, the fruit of the 1986 General Chapter, has been modified four times by different General Chapters: Itaici (1992), Maynooth (1998), Torre d’Aguilha (2004) and Bagamoyo (2012). The essential principles resulting from these changes, which for the most part respond to new needs, aim to adapt our Rule to the circumstances of the world in which we exercise our missionary apostolate, in fidelity to our charism and to the identity of our institute, according to the intentions of our founders Claude François Poullart des Places and François Marie Paul Libermann.
The General Chapter of Bagamoyo II (2021) made two changes to Chapter VII on organization. The first one concerns the synchronization to be established between the circumscription chapters and the General Chapter, in order to match the priorities of the circumscription chapters with those given to us by the General Chapter. For this purpose, two modifications were necessary, namely, the extension of the mandate of the Major Superiors from three to four years (SRL 166; 167; 170.2), renewable once, and a change in the interval of the circumscription chapters from six to eight years (SRL 179; 179.1; 180.4; 180.5. The terms of office of the heads of general services are also changed to 4 years (SRL 206.1).
The second change responds to the requirement of the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life (CICLSAL) concerning the stable patrimony (real and movable goods). A new number (SRL 229.1) has been inserted in the Rule of Life to meet this requirement. Any sale or modification of the stable patrimony of the Congregation must be approved by the legitimate assigning authority (Superior General, with the consent of his Council, or circumscription Superior, with the consent of his Council and confirmed by the Superior General). For its implementation, it was also necessary to make adjustments to SRL 246.1.22 and 248.5.5.
These changes were approved by the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life (CICLSAL) on 14 March 2022 (Prot. n. P.63-1/2004).
It is to be hoped that the generous practice of this Rule will help us to live our missionary commitment authentically and to participate in the action of God who is doing something new in the Church and in our Congregation.

La première édition (1987) de notre Règle de Vie, fruit du Chapitre général de 1986, a été modifiée à quatre reprises par différents Chapitres généraux : Itaici (1992), Maynooth (1998), Torre d’Aguilha (2004) et Bagamoyo I (2012). Les principes essentiels issus de ces changements, qui répondent pour la plu-part aux besoins nouveaux, ont pour but d’adapter notre Règle aux circonstances du monde dans lequel nous exerçons notre apostolat missionnaire, en fidéli-té à notre charisme et à l'identité de notre institut, selon les intentions de nos fondateurs Claude Fran-çois Poullart des Places et François Marie Paul Libermann.
Le chapitre général de Bagamoyo II (2021) a apporté deux changements au chapitre VII sur l’organi-sation. Le premier concerne la synchronisation à établir entre les chapitres des circonscriptions et le chapitre général, dans le but d’accorder les priorités des chapitres de circonscriptions avec celles que nous donne le chapitre général. Toute vente ou modification du patrimoine stable de la Congréga-tion doit être approuvée par l’autorité légitime d’assignation (Supérieur général, avec le consente-ment de son Conseil, ou Supérieur de circonscrip-tion, avec le consentement de son Conseil et confir-mation du Supérieur général). Pour sa mise en pra-tique, il a fallu aussi apporter des ajustements aux numéros RVS 246.1.22 et 248.5.5

Regra de Vida Espiritana 2022

A primeira edição (1987) da nossa Regra de Vida, fruto do Capítulo Geral de 1986, foi modificada quatro vezes por diferentes Capítulos Gerais: Itaici (1992), Maynooth (1998), Torre d’Aguilha (2004) e Bagamoyo I (2012). Os princípios essenciais resultantes destas mudanças, que na sua maioria respondem a novas necessidades, visam adaptar a nossa Regra às circunstâncias do mundo em que exercemos o nosso apostolado missionário, em fidelidade ao nosso carisma e à identidade do nosso Instituto, de acordo com as intenções dos nossos fundadores Cláudio Francisco Poullart des Places e Francisco Maria Paulo Libermann.
O Capítulo Geral de Bagamoyo II (2021) fez duas alterações ao Capítulo VII sobre organização. A primeira diz respeito à sincronização a ser estabelecida entre os Capítulos de circunscrição e o Capítulo Geral, a fim de fazer corresponder as prioridades dos Capítulos de circunscrição com as que nos foram dadas pelo Capítulo Geral. Para este efeito, foram necessárias duas modificações, nomeadamente, a extensão do mandato dos Superiores Maiores de três para quatro anos (RVE 166; 167; 170.2), renovável uma vez, e uma alteração da periodicidade dos Capítulos de circunscrição de seis para oito anos (RVE 179; 179.1; 180.4; 180.5). Os mandatos dos responsáveis dos serviços da administração geral são também alterados para 4 anos (RVE 206.1).
A segunda alteração responde à exigência da Congregação para os Institutos de Vida Consagrada e Sociedades de Vida Apostólica (CIVCSVA) relativamente ao património estável (bens móveis e imóveis). Um novo número (RVE 229.1) foi inserido na Regra de Vida para cumprir este requisito. Qualquer venda ou modificação do património estável da Congregação deve ser aprovada pela autoridade legítima de atribuição (Superior Geral, com o consentimento do seu conselho, ou Superior de circunscrição, com o consentimento do seu conselho e confirmação do Superior Geral). Para a sua implementação, foi também necessário fazer ajustamentos à RVE 246.1.22 e 248.5.5.
Estas alterações foram aprovadas pela Congregação para os Institutos de Vida Consagrada e Sociedades de Vida Apostólica (CIVCSVA) a 14 de Março de 2022 (Prot. n. P.63-1/2004).
É de esperar que a prática generosa desta Regra de Vida nos ajude a viver autenticamente o nosso compromisso missionário e a participar na ação de Deus que está a fazer algo de novo na Igreja e na nossa Congregação.
