East Africa
Fr. Baur begins work at Bagamoyo. He builds a school, a church and a hospital, the latter run by the Sister of Mary from the island of Reunion. This work is greatly admired by some of the famous explorers of East Africa, e.g. Stanley and Livingstone. Slaves are ransomed, educated, baptised and set up in the Christian villages- a work greatly developed by Mgr. Le Roy.
Afrique de l’Est
Le P. Baur commence son travail à Bagamoyo. Il construit une école, une église et un hôpital, dont s’occupent les Soeurs de Ste Marie de la Réunion: un travail très admiré des fameux explorateurs d’Afrique de l’Est, tels Stanley et Livingstone. Des esclaves sont rachetés, éduqués, baptisés et installés dans des villages chrétiens; Mgr Le Roy développera beaucoup ce travail.

O P. Baur começa o seu trabalho missionário no Bagamoio. Constrói uma escola, uma igreja e um hospital, dirigido pelas Irmãs de Santa Maria da Reunião: esta obra foi muito apreciada pelos grandes exploradores da África Livingstone, e Stanley. A Obra liberta os escravos, dá-lhes instrução, baptiza-os e coloca-os em aldeias cristãs. Mgr Le Roy desenvolverá muito este trabalho.
