On this day
Prayer is one of the main pillars on which the spiritual edifice of the missionary or religious remains. If the foundation is solid, the pillar remains straight. If the foundation is mislaid, the pillar collapses, including the edifice.

View AllThe power of evangelisation will find itself considerably diminished if those who proclaim the Gospel are divided among themselves in all sorts of ways. Is this not perhaps one of the great sicknesses of evange-lisation today? Indeed, if the Gospel that we proclaim is seen to be rent by doctrinal disputes, ideological polarisation or mutual condemna-tions among Christians, at the mercy of the latter's differing views on Christ and the Church and even because of their different concepts of society and human institutions, how can those to whom we address our preaching fail to be disturbed, disoriented, even scandalised?

1837 Libermann
Libermann arrives at Rennes as assistant director of the Eudiste noviciate; he takes part in the opening retreat.
1966 Netherlands
Inauguration of the Theological Institute of Eindhoven (TIE) in which the Spiritan scholastics of Gemert take part.
1978 Algeria
Beginning of the re-implantation of Spiritans with the return of Raymond Gonnet to Oran. At first he teaches in an orphanage and then is involved in the foundation of an association for the mentally handicapped. Other Spiritans follow him in a variety of pastoral and social activities.
1982 Ethiopia
Because of difficulties raised in Rome by the Ethiopian Catholic Bishops concerning inculturation and collaboration with the Orthodox Church, the Superior General, Frans Timmermans, visits the country for the first time and wins the support of Car-dinal Willebrands' (Secretariat for Christian Unity) for the Gamo-Gofa "experiment".
La force de l’évangélisation se trouvera bien diminuée si ceux qui annoncent l’Evangile sont divisés entre eux par toutes sortes de rupture. Ne serait-ce pas là l’un des grands malaises de l’évangélisation aujourd’hui ? En effet, si l’Evangile que nous proclamons apparaît déchiré par des querelles doctrinales, des polarisations idéologiques, ou des condamnations réciproques entre chrétiens, au gré de leurs vues différentes sur le Christ et sur l’Eglise et même à cause de leurs conceptions diverses de la société et des institutions humaines, comment ceux à qui s’adresse notre prédication ne s’en trouveraient-ils pas perturbés, désorientés sinon scandalisés ?

Libermann arrive à Rennes comme directeur adjoint du noviciat eudiste ; il participe à la retraite d'ouverture du noviciat.
1966 Pays-Bas
Inauguration de l'Institut Théologique d'Eindhoven (TIE) auquel participent les scolastiques spiritains de Gemert.
1978 Algérie
Début de la réimplantation spiritaine en Oranie : le P. Raymond Gonnet à Oran est d'abord éducateur dans un établissement public d'Orphelins, puis il participe à la fondation d'une Association d'Handicapés mentaux. D'autres Spiritains viendront participer à diverses activités pastorales ou sociales jusqu'en 1995.

A cause de difficultés suscitées à Rome par les Evêques catholiques d’Ethiopie à propos de l’inculturation et collaboration avec l’Eglise Orthodoxe, le Supérieur général, Frans Timmermans, visite le pays pour la 1ère fois et convainct le Cardinal Willebrands (Secrétariat pour l’Unité des Chrétiens) de poursuivre l’expérience de Gamo-Gofa.
A força da evangelização virá a encontrar-se muito diminuída se aqueles que anunciam o Evangelho estiverem divididos entre si, por toda a espécie de rupturas. Não residirá nisso uma das grandes adversidades da evangelização nos dias de hoje? Na realidade, se o Evangelho que nós apregoamos se apresenta vulnerado por querelas doutrinais, polarizações ideológicas, ou condenações recíprocas entre cristãos, ao capricho das suas diferentes maneiras de ver acerca de Cristo e acerca da Igreja e mesmo por causa das suas concepções diversas da sociedade e das instituições humanas, como não haveriam aqueles a quem a nossa pregação se dirige vir a encontrar-se perturbados, desorientados, se não escandalizados?

Libermann chega a Rennes como director adjunto do Noviciado Eudista; participa no retiro de abertura do Noviciado.
1966 Holanda
Inauguração do Instituto Teológico de Eindhoven (ITE), frequentado pelos escolásticos espiritanos de Gemert.
1978 Argélia
Início da reimplantação espiritana em Oranie com o regresso do P. Raymond Gonnet a Oran:, ele é em primeiro lugar educador num estabelecimento público de Órfãos, depois participará na fundação duma Associação de diminuídos físicos mentais. Outros Espiritanos virão juntar-se a ele em diversas actividades pastorais ou sociais até 1995.
1982 Etiópia
Com as dificuldades levantadas em Roma pelo Episcopado Católico da Etiópia e atendendo aos problemas de inculturação e colaboração com a Igreja Ortodoxa, o Superior Geral, Frans Timmermans, visita a Etiópia pela primeira vez e alcança do Cardeal Willebrands (Secretariado para a Unidade dos Cristãos) apoio para prosseguir a “experiência” de Gamo-Gofa.
