On this day
A priest is something great! He is a man who must possess all the perfections of our Lord, for the greatest quality Jesus was clothed with was his divine priesthood. That is why I find it a truly dreadful thing to see so few priests really holy.

C’est quelque chose de si grand qu’un prêtre ! C’est un homme qui doit posséder en lui toutes les perfections de Notre Seigneur, car la plus grande qualité dont Jésus fut revêtu, c’était son sacerdoce. Voilà pourquoi je trouve que c’est une chose vraiment désolante de voir si peu de prêtres vraiment saints.

Um padre é algo de muito grande ! É um homem que deve possuir em si todas as perfeições de Nosso Senhor, porque a maior qualidade de que Jesus foi revestido, foi o seu sacerdócio. É por isso que eu acho verdadeiramente desolador ver que há tão poucos padres verdadeiramente santos.

It fills me with joy to hear of all the wonders that the Heart of Mary is doing in Paris and in the Seminary. Our poor little Congregation rejoices over this in a special way, since we have been consecrated the heart of Mary since we started, and her feast is the one that we celebrate with greatest solemnity. I pray that the heart of Mary, which is so dear to all her children, will be your refuge and your hope amidst your sufferings.

1905 Canada
Foundation of the community of Saint-Alexandre by Mgr. Le Roy. The future school of agriculture is constructed over the next two years.
1929 Canada
Three young confreres make their consecration to the apostolate in the chapel of Saint-Alexandre; seven took the habit the previous month. The first Canadian postulant for the Spiritan sisters, Sister Marie-Leon, leaves for France in 1930.
1993 Ethiopia
Pope John Paul II, who has already received the patriarch of Ethiopia, Abuna Tekle-Haymanot, (17 October 1981), welcomes in Rome H.H. Abuna Paulos, the present patriarch, and confirms that their two Churches possess the same ap-ostolic tradition, faith in Christ and ministry, and should collaborate. He praises the values of the Ethiopian tradition, e.g. inculturation, liturgy, monasticism.
Je suis dans l'admiration de tout ce que j'ai entendu dire des grandes merveilles qu'opère le Cœur de Marie dans Paris et dans le Séminaire. Nous autres, nous devons nous en réjouir d'une manière toute spéciale, notre pauvre petite Congrégation ayant été, dès son origine, particulièrement consacrée à ce Cœur admirable dont la fête est la plus solennelle pour nous. Je prie ce Cœur si cher à tous les enfants de Marie d'être votre refuge et votre espérance, au milieu des peines.

1905 Canada
Fondation de la Communauté Saint-Alexandre par Mgr Le Roy. Au long des deux années suivantes, construction de la future École d'Agriculture.
1929 Canada
Vingt-quatre ans plus tard, trois jeunes Spiritains font leur consécration à l'apostolat dans la chapelle du Collège St Alexandre, il y avait eu 7 prises d'habit le mois précédent. La première postulante spiritaine canadienne , Sr Marie-Léon est partie à Arras en 1930, une autre l'a suivie en 1931.
1993 Ethiopie
Le Pape Jean-Paul II, qui a déjà reçu le patriarche d’Ethiopie, Abuna Tekle-Haymanot (17 octobre 1981), reçoit à Rome Sa Sainteté Abuna Paulos, le patriarche actuel, et confirme que les deux Églises ont même tradition apostolique, même foi et ministère en Christ ,et qu’elles doivent collaborer. Il fait la louange des valeurs de la tradition éthiopienne, p.ex. l’inculturation, la liturgie et la vie monastique.
Estou imensamente admirado por tudo o que ouvi dizer sobre as grandes maravilhas que o Coração de Maria realiza em Paris e no Seminário. Nós devemos alegrar-nos de uma maneira muito especial, tendo a nossa pequena Congregação sido consagrada, desde o início a este Coração admirável cuja festa é a mais solene para nós. Peço a este Coração tão querido a todos os filhos de Maria que ele seja o vosso refúgio e a vossa esperança, no meio das dificuldades.

Vinte e quatro anos mais tarde, três jovens espiritanos fazem a sua Consagração ao Apostolado na capela do Colégio Santo Alexandre; tinha havido no mês anterior 7 tomadas de hábito. A primeira postulante espiritana canadiana, Irmã Marie-Léon, partiu para Arras em 1930, uma outra a seguiu em 1931.
1993 Etiópia
O Papa João Paulo II, que já recebera o patriarca da Etiópia, Abuna Tekle-Haymanot (17 de Outubro de 1981), acolhe em Roma Sua Santidade Abuna Paulos, actual patriarca, e confirma que as duas Igrejas possuem a mesma tradição apostólica, a mesma fé e ministério em Cristo e devem colaborar. Ele enaltece os valores da tradição da Etiópia, p.ex.. a inculturação, a liturgia e a vida monástica.
