Fr Paddy Smyth becomes the first Spiritan parish priest of the parish of Walkinstown Upper in Dublin. It becomes the Holy Spirit Parish of Greenhills. Two other parishes in the Dublin Archdiocese are confided to the Spiritans: Bawnoge in 1989 and Kimmage Manor in 1990.
