Our Master said “I have not come to be served but serve and to lay down my life”. These word contain all the duties of superiorship, it is to the superiors he addresses them. You may object, “But does my authority not have to be respected?”. I will reply “It is not your authority that is to be respected, but that of Our Lord who is in you and which you represent before your Sisters, while still being their very poor servant”.

Vous pourriez objecter à cela « Mais ne faut-il pas que mon autorité soit respectée ? ». Je répondrai « Votre autorité ne doit pas être respectée, mais bien celle de Notre-Seigneur qui est en vous et que vous représentez devant vos soeurs, tout en étant leur très pauvre servante ».

Père Gravière, the new Prefect Apostolic, lands at Gorée. A junior seminary is opened, following the instructions of Père Libermann. (The first Prefect was Père Tisserant, shipwrecked on 07.12.1845).
1848 Mauritius
Blessing of the foundation stone of the church of Sainte Croix. Bishop Collier is met at the chapel by all the missionaries and the men of the locality, carrying their work tools. Jacques Laval is subsequently buried in this church.
1957 Trinidad
Appointment of Father Pedro Valdez as Principal of St Mary's College, the first past-student and Trinidadian to hold this post.
1961 Ireland
The Patrician Congress, commemorating the 1,500th anniversary of the death of St Patrick is celebrated in Ireland with Cardinal Agagianian as Papal Legate. Among the highlights is a Missionary Exhibition mounted with the collaboration of all the missionary congregations. A garden party, organised by the hierarchy, is held in Blackrock College (21 June, 1961).

Le P. Gravière, nouveau Préfet Apostolique débarque à Gorée. Il ouvre un petit séminaire, conformément aux instructions du P. Libermann.
1848 Maurice
Bénédiction de la première pierre de l'église Sainte Croix; Mgr Collier est reçu par les missionnaire et par tous les hommes du quartier, portant leurs instruments de travail. Le P. Laval aimait beaucoup cette église qui conserve sa tombe.
1957 Trinidad
Affectation du P. Pedro Valdez comme principal du Collège St Mary ; il est le premier ancien étudiant et le premier trinidadien à tenir ce poste.
1961 Irlande
Célébration du Congrès patricien, commémorant le 1500ième anniversaire de la mort de St Patrick, sous la présidence du Cardinal Agagianan, Légat pontifical. L’exposition missionnaire compte au nombre des évènements marquants ; elle a été préparée en collaboration par les Congrégations missionnaires. Le Collège de Blackrock accueille une réception organisée par la hiérarchie (21 juin 1961)

Bênção da primeira pedra da igreja da Santa Cruz; Mgr Collier é recebido pelos missionários e por todos os homens do bairro, levando os seus instrumentos de trabalho. O P. Laval gostava muito desta igreja, que conserva o seu túmulo.
1957 Trindade
Nomeação do Padre Pedro Valdez para Principal do Colégio de Santa Maria, é o primeiro antigo estudante da Trindade a ocupar este cargo.
1961 Irlanda
O Congresso Patriciano, comemorando os 1.500 anos da morte de S. Patrício, é celebrado na Irlanda com o Cardeal Agagianan como Legado Pontifício. Entre as atracções turísticas há uma Exposição Missionária montada com a colaboração de todos os Institutos Missionários. Houve recepção ao ar livre no Colégio Blackrock a 21 de Junho de 1961, organizada pela hierarquia.
