Perhaps we are still not sufficiently aware of the duty we owe to the Church and Society to protect and preserve the unique archives that we have in our possession. In the last forty years, we as a Congregation have lived through and influenced events of great significance in the history of the Church and of the countries in which we serve. For example, the taking up of the missionary challenge by the countries of the southern hemisphere will surely be seen in the future as a crucial event in the missionary history of the Church. Our contribution to this movement is not inconsiderable: our Foundations and new Provinces are at the forefront of the new missionary movements in Africa and South America. Will there be a record of all this, or will we plead that we were too busy with the Lord's work to take steps to ensure that future generations would hear about it?

1870 Angola
The General Council decides to withdraw all Spiritans from Angola, leaving it to the Propaganda Fide to decide whether this should be a definitive or temporary decision. In the event, the withdrawal will last for four years and four months.
1950 Tefé
The jurisdiction of Tefé becomes a Prelatura Nullius, under the direction of Mgr. Joaquim de Lange.
1983 Indian Ocean Foundation
The first professions of the new Foundation: 3 from Mauritius and 2 from Madagascar.
1987 C.S.Sp.
The death of Père Bernard Noël (70), General Archivist of the Congregation for 30 years.
1989 Gambia
The WAF noviciate, until now at Bwiam in the Gambia, is transferred to Ejisu in Ghana.
Peut-être ne sommes-nous pas encore assez conscients du devoir que nous avons envers l'Église et la société de protéger et de préserver les archives absolument uniques qui sont en notre possession. Durant les quarante dernières années, en tant que Congrégation, nous avons vécu et influencé des événements de grande portée pour l'histoire de l'Église et pour celle des pays où nous travaillons. Par exemple, la prise en charge de la mission par les pays de l'hémisphère sud apparaîtra sûrement dans l'histoire missionnaire de l'Église comme un tournant. Notre contribution à ce mouvement est loin d'être négligeable : nos Fondations et nos jeunes Provinces sont sur la ligne de front des nouveaux mouvements missionnaires en Afrique et en Amérique du Sud. De tout cela restera-t-il des traces, ou nous reprochera-t-on d'avoir été trop pris par l'œuvre de Dieu pour trouver le temps de la raconter à nos générations futures?

Le Conseil général décide de retirer les Spiritains d’Angola, laissant à Propaganda Fide de décider si cette mesure devait être temporaire ou définitive. De fait, cette retraite a duré 4 ans et 4 mois.
1950 Tefé
Tefé devient une "Prelatura nullius", sous la direction de Mgr Jouke de Lange.
1983 Fondation de l’Océan Indien
Premières professions dans cette nouvelle Fondation: 3 Mauriciens et 2 Malgaches.
1987 C.S.Sp.
Mort du P. Bernard Noël à 70 ans; il avait été l’archiviste général de la Congrégation pendant 30 ans.
1989 Gambie
Le novitiat de la WAF; jusqu’alors à Bwiam en Gambie, est transféré à Ejisu au Ghana.
Talvez não estejamos ainda bastante conscientes do dever que temos para com a Igreja e a sociedade, de proteger e preservar os arquivos únicos que possuímos. ~ Durante os últimos quarenta anos, como Congregação, vivemos e influenciámos acontecimentos de grande importância para a história da Igreja e para a história dos países onde trabalhamos. Por exemplo, o compromisso da missão nos países do hemisfério sul, aparecerá seguramente na história missionária da Igreja como uma reviravolta. A nossa contribuição para este movimento está longe de ser posta de lado: as Fundações e as jovens Províncias são a linha da frente dos novos movimentos missionários na África e na América do Sul. Ficarão traços de tudo isso ou sere-mos censurados por estarmos muito apegados à obra de Deus sem ter tempo para a relatar às nossa futuras gerações?

O Conselho Geral da Congregação decide retirar os Espiritanos do Congo (Angola), deixando em aberto, a juízo da Propaganda, a decisão de uma retirada definitiva ou simplesmente provisória. Durara esta primeira experiência quatro anos e quatro meses.
1950 Tefé
Tefé torna-se “Prelatura Nullius” sob a direcção de Mgr Joaquim de Lange.
1983 Fundação do Oceano Índico
Primeira Profissão nesta nova Fundação: 3 Mauricianos e 2 Malgaches.
