My heart is for the Africans, wholly for the Africans. I am Jesus’ servant. He wants me to love everyone as he loves everyone; but he inspires me with a more intense love, more tender, for his dear brothers the black people. Since I love black people so tenderly, I want that all my life be occupied with bringing happiness to the people of Africa, not only their happiness on earth, but above all in heaven.

Mon coeur est à vous, mon coeur est aux Africains, tout aux Africains. Je suis serviteur de Jésus, il veut que j’aime tous les hommes comme il les aime, mais il m’inspire un amour plus vif, plus tendre, pour ses chers frères, les hommes noirs. Et parce que j’aime si tendrement les hommes noirs, je veux que toute ma vie je sois occupé à faire le bonheur des hommes de l’Afrique, non seulement leur bonheur sur la terre, mais surtout pour le ciel.

I am very annoyed that you are not in charge of the mission in Senegal. I am very anxious to hear that a seminary will be established by your congregation at Gorée or Saint-Louis. In the government school at Saint-Louis there are several young men who want to be priests. They study Latin along with other subjects. Please try to do something soon with M. Cabeuil of Gorée.

1709 Guyane
Arrival of the Jesuits. They are responsible for all the missionary work in the country up to their suppression in 1784. The work is then continued by the Spiritans.
1878 East Africa
The first caravan of White Fathers to the interior is organised by Fr. Baur and Br. Oskar (Spiritans) On 11.06.1878, it sets out from Bagamoyo with 300 porters to the great lakes in Central Africa. Three other caravans, organised in the same way, follow in 1879, 1883 and 1887.
1947 Senegal
Mgr. Marcel Lefebvre is appointed Vicar Apostolic of Dakar. He invites many congregations to join in the work: White Fathers, Marists, Sacred Heart of Issoudun, Maronites, Presentation Sisters, Carmelites etc. There is a great increase in parishes both at Dakar and in the interior.
1958 Canada
The General Council erects the new community of the Holy Spirit in the place of the community of Daulac. The senior scholasticate moves there with a team of four fathers. The community closes in 1979.
Cela me fâche beaucoup que vous n’êtes pas à la tête de la Mission du Sénégal, et grandement il me tarde beaucoup d’entendre qu’un Séminaire a été établi par votre Congrégation, ou à Gorée ou à Saint-Louis. Dans le Collège établi par le Gouvernement à Saint-Louis, il y a plusieurs jeunes gens qui veulent être prêtres. Parmi d’autres études ils s’appliquent au latin. Faites quelque chose promptement avec M. Cabeuil, de Gorée.

1709 Guyane
Arrivée des Jésuites. Ils prennent en charge toutes les tâches missionnaires en Guyane jusqu’à la suppression de la Compagnie (1784) et le relais pris la Congrégation du St Esprit en fin 1775.
1878 Afrique de l’Est
Le P. Baur et le Fr. Oscar, Spiritains, organisent la première caravane des Pères Blancs vers l’intérieur. Elle quitte Bagamoyo avec 300 porteurs en direction des Grands Lacs de l’Afrique centrale. Trois autres caravanes , organisées de la même manière, suivent en 1879, 1883 et 1887.

Le Conseil général érige la nouvelle communauté du Saint-Esprit, en lieu et place de la communauté de Daulac, le grand scolasticat va s’y installer avec une équipe de direction de 4 pères (Sup., économe, directeurs spirituels, professeurs); il sera fermé le 24 janvier 1979.

No Colégio fundado pelo Governo em S. Luís, há vários jovens que querem ser padres. Entre outros estudos têm também o do latim. Faça rapidamente qualquer coisa com M. Cabeuil, de Gorée.

1709 Guiana
Chegada dos Jesuítas. Eles encarregam-se de todas as tarefas missionárias na Guiana até à supressão da Companhia (1784) e à substituição tomada pela Congregação do Espírito Santo em fins de 1775.
1878 África de Leste
A primeira expedição dos Padres Brancos para o interior é organizada pelo P. Baur e Ir. Oskar, Espiritanos. Deixa o Bagamoio com 300 carregadores em direcção aos Grandes Lagos da África Central. Três outras caravanas, organizadas do mesmo modo seguem em 1879, 1883 e 1887.

Ele chama sucessivamente os Padres Brancos, os Padres Maristas, os Missionários do Sagrado Coração de Issiodoun, os Padres Maronitas, as Irmãs da Apresentação de Maria, os Carmelitas (em 1950), etc... Multiplica as paróquias tanto em Dacar como no interior.
1958 Canadá
O Conselho Geral erige a nova comunidade do Espírito Santo, em lugar da comunidade de Daulac, aí vai ficar o grande escolasticado com uma equipa directiva de 4 padres (Superior, ecónomo, directores espirituais, professores); ele será fechado a 24 de Janeiro de 1979.
