Act like a “man”, with simplicity before God and the only desire to please him.
Francis Libermann
Cf. Notes and Documents, VIII, 126, 1846.

Francisco Libermann

The father of Claude Poullart des Places decided that his son should be a member of the parliament of Brittany and Mme. des Places bought the necessary clothes for that function. When the time came to try them on, he felt very unhappy with it. He looked at him-self in a mirror and reflected that it was much easier to put on the robe than to acquire the necessary qualities to be a judge. But God made it clear to him that he was not being called to that way of life. He took off the robe and declared to all that he would never put it on again. At the same time, he asked his father's permission to enter the ecclesiastical state.
