Study the Holy Gospel and Saint Paul very well and you will find nowhere that boasting of beautiful characters are the facts for being great saints, but on every page, it is repeated that grace does everything. It lowers nature and puts it right down. Saint Paul says that no man must glorify himself as something before God, everything that he has, in the supernatural order, he retains by the divine grace.

Examinez bien le Saint Évangile et saint Paul, et vous n’y trouverez nulle part qu’on vante les beaux caractères comme faits pour être de grands saints, mais à chaque page, on y répète que la grâce fait tout. On y abaisse la nature et on la met bien en bas. Saint Paul dit qu’aucun homme ne doit se glorifier devant Dieu comme étant quelque chose, tout ce qu’il a, dans l’ordre surnaturel, il le tient de la grâce divine.

Examine bem o Santo Evangelho e São Paulo, e não encontrará em parte alguma que se louvem os belos caracteres como feitos para serem grandes santos, mas em cada página se repete que a graça faz tudo. A natureza é bem rebaixada. São Paulo diz que nenhum homem se deve gloriar diante de Deus como sendo alguma coisa, tudo o que ele tem, na ordem sobrenatural, vem-lhe da graça divina.

The Patriarch of Lisbon, Bishop Manuel Bento Rodrigues, approves the foundation of the seminary for the Congo at Santarém.
Les brebis hors de la maison d’Israël, qui étaient ceux des Gentils qui croyaient en un Dieu seul et qui observaient la loi naturelle, comme Job, Naaman, Jéthro et autres, étaient brebis, mais n’appartenaient pas au bercail établi de Dieu dans Israël … Mais, dans le nouveau bercail, le divin Pasteur réunira toutes ces brebis pour en former un seul et même troupeau, et pour les faire entrer toutes dans un seul et même bercail. Et dans ce temps, le caractère essentiel et unique des brebis sera dans l’âme, un caractère formé par l’Esprit Saint, caractère qui unira tout le bercail et rendra toutes les brebis dociles et souples sous un même pasteur.

Mgr Manuel Bento Rodriguez, Patriarche de Lisbonne, approuve la fondation du séminaire pour le Congo à Santarém.
As ovelhas fora da casa de Israel, que eram as dos Gentios que acreditavam num único Deus e que observavam a lei natural, como Job, Naaman, Jethro e outros, eram ovelhas, mas não pertenciam ao redil estabelecido por Deus em Israel... Mas, no novo redil o Pastor divino reunirá todas estas ovelhas para com elas formar um único e mesmo rebanho, e para as fazer entrar todas num único e mesmo redil. E neste tempo, a característica essencial e única das ovelhas será na alma, uma característica formada pelo Espírito Santo, característica que unirá todo o redil e tornará todas as ovelhas dóceis e mansas sob o comando dum só pastor.
