For the chaplet, do not absolutely seek to enter in all the sentiments and thoughts of the prayer that you recite. Keep yourself peacefully united to the Lord or to the Most Blessed Virgin from the depth of your interior. You can also unite yourself in this way to the intentions and to the desires of the Most Blessed Virgin. Provided that you are well united to God that is all it takes.

Tenez-vous paisiblement uni à Dieu ou à la Très Sainte Vierge par le fond de votre intérieur. Vous pouvez aussi vous unir de cette manière aux intentions et aux désirs de la très Sainte Vierge. Pourvu que vous soyez bien uni à Dieu, c’est tout ce qu’il faut.

No que respeita ao terço, não procure absolutamente entrar em todos os sentimentos e todos os pensamentos da oração que recita. Conserve-se pacificamente unido a Deus ou à Santíssima Virgem pelo fundo do seu interior. Pode também unir-se dessa maneira às intenções e desejos da Santíssima Virgem. Contanto que esteja bem unido a Deus, é tudo o que é preciso.

What must be aimed at is complete humanism. And what is that if not the fully-rounded development of the whole person? A humanism closed in on itself and not open to the values of the spirit and to God who is their source could achieve apparent success. True, man can organise the world apart from God, but without God, man can organise it in the end only to man's detriment. An isolated humanism is an inhuman humanism. There is no true humanism but that which is open to the Absolute and is conscious of a vocation which gives hu-man life its true meaning. Far from being the ultimate measure of all things, man can only realise himself by reaching beyond himself. As Pascal has said so well: "Man infinitely surpasses man".

L'Abbé de l'Isle-Dieu becomes the Vicar General of Mgr. Dosquet; thanks to him, the seminary at Quebec receives staff from the Seminaire du Saint-Esprit in Paris. To show his gratitude, Mgr. Dosquet gives his country house at Sarcelles (near Paris) to the Spiritans.

The Holy See creates the Vicariat of Bagamoyo (Central Zanzibar) out of the Vicariat of Northern Zanguebar. Fr François-Xavier VOGT is appointed Bishop for the new Vicariat of Kilimanjaro.

C’est un humanisme plénier qu’il faut promouvoir. Qu’est-ce à dire, sinon le développement intégral de tout l’homme et de tous les hommes? Un humanisme clos, fermé aux valeurs de l’esprit et à Dieu qui en est la source, pourrait apparemment triompher. L’humanisme exclusif est un humanisme inhumain. Il n’est donc d’humanisme vrai qu’ouvert à l’Absolu, dans la reconnaissance d’une vocation, qui donne l’idée vraie de la vie humaine. L’homme ne se réalise lui-même qu’en se dépassant.

É necessário promover um humanismo total. Que vem a ser ele senão o desenvolvimento integral do homem todo e de todos os homens? Poderia aparentemente triunfar um humanismo limitado, fechado aos valores do espírito e a Deus, fonte do verdadeiro humanismo. Humanismo exclusivo é humanismo desumano. Não há portanto verdadeiro humanismo, senão o aberto ao Absoluto, reconhecendo uma vocação que exprime a ideia exacta do que é a vida humana. O homem só se pode realizar a si mesmo, ultrapassando-se.

O Pároco de Isle-Dieu torna-se vigário geral de Mgr Dosquet, bispo de Québec; graças a ele, o Seminário de Québec receberá padres do Seminário do Espírito Santo. Como recompensa, Mgr Dosquet doará ao Seminário do Espírito Santo a sua casa de campo de Sarcelles, perto de Paris.
