Fr. James Hyland C.S.Sp. (1886-1953), an Irishman of the "Mission Band", publishes his novel "The Dove Flies South", graphically exposing what it means to be black in a white society, seen through the eyes of a white supremacist who temporarily turns black and experiences in person the injustices he himself has always practised. The book is a best-seller that stimulates America's awakening conscience.

Le P. James Hyland c.s.sp., Irlandais de l’’Equipe Missionnaire’ (1886-1953) publie son roman ‘The Dove Flies South’ montrant d’une manière vivante ce que cela signifie que d’être Noir dans une société blanche, en partant du regard d’un raciste blanc devenu Noir et vivant en sa chair les injustices qu’il a jadis commises. Le livre a un grand succès et stimule le réveil de la conscience américaine.

James Hyland publica o seu romance “The Dove Flies South”, expondo graficamente o que significa ser negro numa sociedade branca através do olhar da supremacia branca que por algum tempo se transforma negra e experimenta na própria pessoa as injustiças que sempre foram praticadas contra os negros. O livro tornou-se um ‘bestseller’ que estimulou o despertar da consciência da América.
