On this day
The way which I go about reading this holy and adorable Word is to seek to penetrate the most intimate and simple depths of our divine Saviour. I endeavour to go right where Our Lord is directly pointing at. I strive to take everything into account, to penetrate into his adorable interior and to see rather his divine thoughts than the single and strict sense of his words.

La manière dont je m’y prends pour lire cette sainte et adorable Parole est de chercher à pénétrer dans le fond le plus intime et le plus simple de notre divin Sauveur. Je tâche d’aller droit là où Notre Seigneur a voulu en venir directement. Je m’efforce de me rendre compte de tout, et de pénétrer dans son adorable intérieur pour y voir plutôt sa divine pensée que le sens unique et strict de ses paroles.

A minha maneira de ler esta santa e adorável Palavra é esta: procurar penetrar o fundo mais íntimo e mais simples do nosso divino Salvador. Procuro ir diretamente, onde Nosso Senhor quis chegar diretamente. Esforço-me por me aperceber de tudo, e por penetrar no seu adorável interior para aí ver mais o seu divino pensamento do que o sentido único e restrito das suas palavras.

1827 Libermann
François Libermann, 10 months after his conversion, is admitted to the seminary of Saint-Sulpice. He had received the tonsure at the cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris on June 9th.
1854 Rome
Père Lannurien dies of cholera. He had been the secretary of Libermann. The notes he made during his noviciate are an important source for the comments of Libermann made on the Règle Provisoire. He is looked upon as the founder of the French Seminary in Rome, where he is buried in the chapel.
1910 East Africa
The Apostolic Vicariat of Kilimanjaro is set up and P. Alois Munsch is named bishop.
1983 Ireland
The death of Fr. Francis Griffin at Rockwell at the age of 90. After serving many years on the General Council, he was elected the 17th Superior General (1950-1962), the first non-Frenchman to hold that post.

François-Marie-Paul Libermann, dix mois après sa conversion soudaine dans une pauvre chambre du Collège Stanislas (Paris), est admis au Séminaire Saint-Sulpice (Théologat). Il a reçu la Tonsure à la Cathédrale de Paris le 9 juin précédent.
1854 Rome
Mort du P. Lannurien du choléra ; ancien secrétaire du P. Libermann, ses notes de novice demeurent une source précieuse des commentaires (gloses) que Libermann faisait sur la Règle Provisoire. Il est le fondateur du Séminaire Français de Rome, dans la chapelle duquel il repose.

Le Vicariat Apostolique du Kilimandjaro est créé et le P. Alois Munsch en est nommé évêque
1983 Irlande
Décès du P. Francis Griffin, 90 ans, à Rockwell en Irlande. 17ème Supérieur général (1950-1962), il servit de longues années dans le Conseil général et fut le premier supérieur général non-français.

Francisco Maria Paulo Libermann, dez meses depois da sua súbita conversão num pobre quarto do Colégio Estanislau em Paris, é admitido no Seminário de S. Sulpício (para a Teologia). Recebeu a Tonsura na Catedral de Paris a 9 de Junho precedente.
1854 Roma
Morte de cólera do P. Lannurien; antigo secretário do P. Libermann, as suas notas de noviço são uma fonte preciosa dos comentários (glosas) que Libermann fazia sobre a Regra Provisória. É o fundador do Seminário francês de Roma; repousa na capela do Seminário.
1910 África de Leste
É criado o Vicariato Apostólico do Kilimanjaro. A 13 de Setembro, o P. Aloïs Munsch é nomeado bispo.
1983 Irlanda
Morte do P. Francisco Griffin, 90 anos, em Rockwell, na Irlanda. 17º Superior Geral (1950-1962), serviu longos anos no Conselho Geral e foi o primeiro Superior Geral não francês.
